North Morpeth

We are investing £2 million to improve and extend the sewer network in Morpeth and to support ongoing and proposed developments to the north and west of the town centre.

Update by Paul Davison

Good morning,

I hope you have all had a relaxing Easter and enjoyed the Morpeth Gathering events taking place over last weekend, at least the weather was kind!

While we completed our section of drainage work on Dark Lane earlier this month including final re-surfacing work, Linden Homes’ drainage work on St George’s Hospital Access road is still ongoing and progressing well. From this afternoon, their contractor, Esh Construction will be commencing from where we left off heading up the bank and past the entrance to the health centre. This will mean re-establishing 3-way lights on Dark Lane for a short duration while they pull away from the junction The lights will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm and they expect to sufficiently progress away from the junction to allow the lights to be removed on Dark Lane by the end of the working day this Friday 28 April. Access to the health centre will maintained throughout as they progress past the junction of the car park and expect to complete the lower section of drainage work by Friday 5 May.

Meanwhile, MMB are currently progressing with drainage work elsewhere within the St George’s Hospital grounds and have also commenced with a short section of drainage work off Gas House Lane and Wellwood Gardens. This short length of drainage will improve the operation of the existing sewers in the Low Stanners area and we expect to be complete by Friday 28 April.

I’m conscious that re-establishing traffic lights on Dark Lane is again going to impact on traffic movements in and out of the Town for a short period, and would like to thank you again for your continued patience while we complete this essential work.
