Update by Ian Davison
We work hard to involve the community in all aspects of our projects seeking opportunities to involve schools when we can. While undertaking the Rainwise work close to Prudhoe Castle First School our partners Esh / MWH, led by Christine Taylor, took the opportunity to highlight the dangers of playing around construction sites. The team also volunteered to help restore access to an outside classroom area within the school playing field. I thought I would share the heads comments acknowledging the benefits that this additional work has provided. It’s rewarding to see the wider community appreciate the work that we carry out.
“Christine and her team at Esh were fantastic! They engaged with the whole school through an assembly and highlighted the work they were carrying out in the area. The children loved making posters for the fencing around the work site and it was great to hear the children actively discussing how they could keep each other, and their families, safe. The team followed up with some groundwork on our school site and their volunteers helped to resurface a very sad and dilapidated looking pathway. This has meant the children now have access to the 'wild area' in the school grounds.”
