Prudhoe

We are working together with the community to reduce the risk of future flooding in areas of Prudhoe through our Rainwise initiative.

Planned works

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING OUR PLANS AND HAVE WRITTEN TO CUSTOMERS ASKING THEM FOR THEIR VIEWS ON OUR PROPOSALS, AND HOW WE CAN MINIMISE ANY IMPACT. THESE ARE SHOWN BELOW.

Castle Road, Prudhoe

The outline proposal comprises the installation of new sewers to divert surface water from Castle Road into the Otter Burn. The new pipes will allow us to remove surface water from the existing sewer network, lowering flood risk by reducing the run off into the downstream system.

Maple Grove, Prudhoe

The outline proposal comprises the installation of a new relief sewer in Maple Grove reducing the flood risk by increasing the capacity in the sewer network, which is particularly important during times of heavy rainfall.

Tyne View, Prudhoe

The outline proposal will reduce flood risk at Tyne View Terrace by the installation of new sewers to divert flow into the nearby system where additional capacity exists. Alternatively, we will consider installing non-return valves to nine properties along Tyne View Terrace. These only allow water to flow in one direction and prevent water from the public sewer entering the private drainage system of the property.
