Hi

I'm Simon Bright the Site Manager for the Prudhoe CAP rainwise scheme, I'll be looking after the day to day operations throughout the project. I'll be regularly posting updates on this portal page to keep you informed of our planned / completed works and any changes which may impact you. I'll be working closely with Ian Davison, the Northumbrian Water Project Manager, Northumberland County Council highways department and our customer services team, Tony and Christine who you may have already meet during letter drops and door knocks.

We have just finished a section of the Prudhoe CAP rainwise scheme in Wylam and we're now setting up to move our compound to Eltringham Road just behind Beamount Terrace. On Tuesday next week our offices and cabins will be delivered to the compound and we will be starting to construct the access Road at the end of Sycamore Grove onto Eltringham Road. On Monday 8th May Castle Road will be closed West of Rowan Grove with a diversion in place to take residents via the A695 Prudhoe By-pass onto Eltringham Road. The 20mph speed limit will still be inplace on Sycamore Grove and Castle Road. Several residents who I've recently talked to have been concerned that the temporary access will result in a short cut and an increase in traffic. I assure you there will not be a through road, it will be used by residents of Sycamore Grove, a few houses at the end of Castle Road, Birch Court and by ourselves. We will plan our work as much as possible to minimise the amount of construction traffic.

Regarding Maple Grove, you may have seen a gang digging trial pits in the grassed area behind the street. They are locating services, checking their depths and line so the designers can come up with the most practical solution to minimise the amount of work needed.

I will be based at the Compound on Eltringham Road from next Wednesday and you'll probably see me walking between the jobs. Feel free to introduce yourselves and ask any questions, I'll always try my best to help.

Simon

Update by Ian Davison

Hi Everyone

I hope you have all had a good weekend

The works on Dene Road Wylam are drawing to a close and we will be moving into Prudhoe over the next week. Towards the end of the week our experienced partner Esh will commence preparing the site compound which will be located off Eltringham Bank to the rear of Beaumont Terrace.

It is proposed to install a short section of new surface water sewer along Castle Road. This work will increase the capacity of the sewer system and help to reduce the potential risk of flooding in the future to homes and businesses.

As I mentioned on the 24th March the work will require the closure of a short section of Castle Road between Rowan Grove and Sycamore Grove. The closure will be for no more than five weeks beginning on 2 May 2017. During this period of time we will open an access for residents from Sycamore Grove onto Eltringham Road. Diversion signs will be in place during the works, the temporary access and concrete bollards will be fully reinstated on completion. A plan indicating   how the temporary junction arrangement will be managed is posted on the Planned Works tab.  Every effort will be made to ensure these works are completed in a timely manor.

I can confirm the design team is investigating an alternative flood risk reduction option for Maple Grove. This work will follow the completion of the Castle Road sewer installation and is currently planned to commence in June. More information will follow when the viability of the alternative option is confirmed.

Thanks

Ian

Hi everyone,

A further update following from Ian Davison.

My colleague Tony Birkett visited site yesterday afternoon, speaking to many residents of the Sycamore Grove area to advise of the alternative route that Northumbrian Water and Esh-MWH have agreed with the local authority.  We also delivered a letter advising of the situation.  Letters are planned for delivery to the wider community by the end of next week.

Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or simply post a comment here.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I just want to thank the staff and pupils of Prudhoe Castle First School for our warm welcome last week. My colleague Clare Davison from our Added Value team, supported by my goodself, went to visit the pupils and staff.

Clare did an excellent presentation on Health and Safety around our sites and we explained the work we are carrying out in your area.  I have asked the pupils to design some posters for me to display on our compound.

We are so exctied to see what they come up with and will share the entries with you all.

Thank you Prudhoe Castle First School, good luck with your designs

Christine

I hope you all remain well, I would like to update you on our progress since last being in touch in January.

The design work is now complete and our construction works within the drainage catchment are about to begin. Initially our efforts will be concentrated in Wylam before we move across the river to start work in Prudhoe.

We remain on programme and continue to work towards starting in Prudhoe towards the end of April. The Maple Grove improvements are planned first with the Castle Road and Tyne View work to follow. Our experienced partner, Esh/MWH will carry out the work on our behalf.

I will continue to keep you up to date with our plans for this essential work and will be back in touch to confirm the construction dates a couple of weeks before we start.

If you can spare a moment please review the Rainwise leaflet posted on the planned works tab which advises on changes you can make around your home and garden to help manage surface water.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions about the scheme.  You can leave your comments on this update or by ringing our customer centre on 0345 717 1100.

We are keen to engage with the local community and your views are always welcome at any stage during the development of the project. Once the design is finalised I will be back in touch with more detailed information.
