GENERAL PROJECT
CURRENT WEATHER

Durham Road, Spennymoor

We are upgrading the sewer network. This will increase the resilience and reliability of the network and will involve up sizing 240 meters of existing sewer pipe in the area of Wood Vue and the nearby Cow Plantation Nature Reserve. We will work closely with the local authority regarding the reinstatement of the nature reserve when the works are completed.

Project updates

Update by Anthony Birkett

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the Easter weekend - although the snow wasn't what we'd hoped for!

I've been down to Spennymoor today to see how we are getting on on site. We are very close to finishing our work in the Plantation, the construction work is complete and the lid is on the CSO that we have been building. I have attached a few photos showing the progress we have made there.

We are also close to finishing in Wood Vue. We expect to finish the pipe work very soon and then permanently reinstate the lane of Durham Road. We have the tarmac contractor booked and white line contrator booked, so expect to be completely finished in the road by Wednesday 11 April 2018.

We will then begin to remove the compound and carry out any other last tasks that need to be done.

We're not quite there, but it won't be long now!

Good afternoon

Our site team did put a short video together but due to technical issues this would not upload.  So we will get them to do it the old fashioned way with Tony next week.  I do apologise to both the site team and our readers for not being able to upload.

On another note we want to wish Spennymoor Football Club good luck for their game on Monday, we have our fingers crossed for you.

I have also included some photos from site of our winning posters from Kings Street Primary School. Well done they are fabulousd!  So many people have come to have a look at them, the local community think they are great.

Have a great Easter break and stay safe.

Hi Everyone

We wrote recently advising that reinstatements would start tomorrow. This has been delayed slightly, so will now start on Wednesday. Rest assured though, we still intend to be finished by close of business on Thursday in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Hi Everyone

I was down at site yesterday and things are moving along nicely! We are currently busy building a manhole at the Durham Road end of Wood Vue, we're hoping to be finished the work in the road by Easter, so not long now!

From Tuesday 27 March 2018 we permanently reinstate the rest of Wood Vue - this should be finished by Thursday 29 March 2018. I was out trying to inform those affected by this yesterday and left this letter.

The end is in sight!

Hi Everyone

I have been in touch the Mac Woodley on site has kindly provided an update on how we're progressing. We are making good progress and nearing the final stretch of work.

In the Cow Plantation, we are now fitting a new screen - we wil provide some images of the progress in this area once it is completed to illustrate how we have done it.

In Wood Vue, we are also making good progress. We are currently constructing the new manhole which will improve the flows. When investigating the existing pipes, we found that there was NO underground change just some very old pipework which desperately needed upgrading!

Hope you have a good weekend

Hi Everyone

Following last week's brush with The Beast From The East, you'll be pleased to see that we are back on site today! Obviously the weather knocked us back a little, but we will now resume where we were and continue making progress up Wood Vue.

I know we planned to be further along by now so this has allowed access to the rear lane of Durham Road for a little longer. The weather has made it difficult for us to plan, but we will be there by the end of the week. I will update those affected by the lane closure nearer the time.

Take Care

Good morning,

As you will of guessed we are not on site today, or yesterday due to the weather.

The site will be closed now until the weather improves, which hopefully will be Monday.

We urge everyone to stay safe during this period of bad weather.  I will update you all tomorrow.

Hi Everyone

You will most likely have noticed, we are making very quick progress along Wood Vue at the minute. While we have the momentum, the working area will continue towards Durham Road. From Monday 26 February 2018, we will reach the first back lane to the houses on Durham Road., meaning those residents won't have road access to the lane. I've been out and attempted to speak to all those affected by this next move, please find attached the letter I delivered here

Take care

Hi Everyone

Spennymoor is becoming my second home! I was there again yesterday trying to update those affected by the next phase of work of Wood Vue. We seem to be moving on quite quickly now and will move the fencing further up the road again on Monday 12 February 2018. The letter I distributed to relevant resindents can be found here.

See you down there again soon!
