Durham Road, Spennymoor

We are upgrading the sewer network. This will increase the resilience and reliability of the network and will involve up sizing 240 meters of existing sewer pipe in the area of Wood Vue and the nearby Cow Plantation Nature Reserve. We will work closely with the local authority regarding the reinstatement of the nature reserve when the works are completed.

Project updates

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi Everyone

It is necessary to carry out a little remedial work on the access track within the Cow Plantation. This will be completed on Thursday 7 June 2018 and Friday 8 June 2018. We expect minimal disruption , but apologise is anyone is caused any inconvenience. This is the final piece of the jigsaw :-)

Hi Everyone

Reinstatements are progressing well around our Wood Vue site. As you can see, the area where our compound was is beginning to look like we were never there! Likewise where we were in the Cow Plantation. I've attached a couple of photos taken at the weekend.

Hi Everyone

I've been down to Durham Road to check on progress - the end is in sight! We're still working on reinstating Wood Vue, we've planed out the road by the entrance to the compound and the speed bump and hope to have this competed tomorrow. We've also been working in the plantation and have cleared this area, apart from a small fenced area around th CSO - we will need to return there next week to complete some metal work. We hope to be finished by the end of next week!

I've attached a few photos of our progress today

Hi Everyone

There's lots going on on site in the coming days, we're busy reinstating area where the compound was and will hope to have grass seed down soon. We're also sorting the kerbing out by the entrance to compound, we've started that work and will finish next wednesday and thursday when the tarmac contractractors attend. They will also be working on Wood Vue where we are carrying out remedial reinstatements on the speed bump nearest to Durham Road. These reinstatements will be finished by Friday 11 May 2018. Here's a copy of the letter I've distributed to Wood Vue this afternoon.

Hope you enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend

Hi Everyone

We are now in the process of leaving the area and reinstating the roads, pathways and grassed areas to their original condition. On Wednesday 2 May 2018 reinstatements will start at the entrance of our compound area on Oxclose Crescent.  The carriageway will be narrowed using cones and this will be managed via a priority system to cause the least disruption possible. The work will be completed by 17:00 on Thursday 10 May 2018.

Hi Everyone

The finish line is in sight! You've probably noticed, we've removed the cabins from our compound and finished the reinstatements in Wood Vue. We are just appying the finishing touches to our work in the Cow Plantation and completing the reinstatements there too. This should be done by the middle of next week, then we hope to pull off site. However, the fencing around the compound will remain in place for a little while to allow the area to cultivate the seed and we are aware of an issue with one of the speed bumps in Wood Vue, so will need to return to rectify that.

I'd again like to thank you all for your patience and cooperation while we have been working here.

Update by Christine Taylor

Good morning,

Last night some of our team attended the Spennymoor v Telford match. Myself, Tina Robinson (NWL), John Hogg (NWL) and our site manager, Darren Whale were all lucky enough to see the team in action, and all agreed how well the team played.

Although Spennymoor were defeated, this did not impact on our night.

We would like to thank the football club and supporters for their hospitality last night.  We all had a fabulous night and will definately be following the teams progress.

We would like to thank the club for their patience and understanding whilst we carried out our works in the area.  And it goes without saying that we also thank all our customers for their understanding and co-operation during our works.

Thank you all

Christine

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi Everyone

Further to my message on Thursday, Pipetek didn't quite finish surveying all the manholes, so will be back first thing on Monday 23 April 2018 to complete the task. This will be the same as yesterday, but only for the last two remaining manholes. We will not restrict anyone's drives, however you may not be able to pass them while they are working. As ever, if you have any concerns, please raise them - we're happy to help where we can.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hi Everyone

I've been out and about round Wood Vue this afternoon informing the residents there of our work tomorrow. Our subcontractors Pipetek will be surveying the newly laid pipes. This will invole a CCTV survey of the new pipes in Wood Vue. To facilitate this small sections of Wood Vue will be closed for short periods of time around the manholes. Here is a copy of the letter I have distributed today. Don't worry, I applied the factor 50! Can't be too careful!

Hi Everyone

As you will have noticed, we have not finished work in the area yet! This was due to unforeseen issues in constructing the manhole at the junction with the lane to the rear of Durham Road. We have now overcome these issues and are finally in the last stretch. Tarmac contractors and white line contractors are booked to permanently reinstate the last bit of the lane by the end of this week. We are also in the process of removing the compound, so we will be completely off site very soon!

Can I take the opportunity to thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work has been completed.

I have attached a coupe of pictures showing the final reinstatements on Wood Vue.
