Esh Winning Sewer

Northumbrian Water are working in your are to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution incidents in Esh Winning. The Esh Winning sewer runs in close proximity to the Priest Burn and, at times of heavy rainfall, it can present a risk of pollution to the river. The solution we identified to this includes the installation of a new pumping station in the field opposite South Terrace and a new pipeline along the main road into the sewage treatment works.

Update by Christine Taylor

Good morning,

I last made contact back in 2018, so I thought it would be great to reintroduce our project team for the Esh Winning project, with a few changes to our original team..

As you will be aware, Chris Bond is the new Project Manager from Northumbrian Water overseeing the scheme. Now let me introduce our Esh Stantec team, we are the contract partners who will be carrying out the works.

My name is Christine Taylor, the Customer Service Manager working for Esh Stantec, on behalf of Northumbrian Water.  Back in May 2018, I met a few local residents when we held a community event at 'Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish Centre'.

One of my team has been out knocking on doors this week introducing herself, Becky Gartland.  Becky is our Community Liaison Officer for this scheme, and will be contactable throughout our works.  Over the next five months, you will see both me and Becky on site, please feel free to come and introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have, alternatively you can post messages here on the portal.

Mark Nicholson, is the Contracts Manager for the scheme working for Esh Stantec. Mark will oversee the progress of works on site, upgrading and upsizing the sewerage system including the installation of the new pumping station.

Steve Boyd is our Project Manager for the project, he will be working on site throughout the duration of the work; overseeing the daily operations of the scheme delivery.  Steve is always on hand to assist if you have any queries that require immediate attention.

As you know the works start on Monday 17 May, when our team will be on site to set up our compound area.  If you have any queries, you can either contact us direct or post on the portal and we will respond in a timely manner.

Speak soon.

Update by Christopher Bond

Hi everyone

My name is Chris Bond and I am have taken over as Northumbrian Water Project Manager from Lynn for this project.

As previously communicated, we have identified an opportunity to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution. The proposed works are to include installing a new pumping station in the field opposite South Terrace and a new pipeline along the main road into the sewage treatment works.

Following approval of planning, we had envisaged to start on site in 2020, however due to unforeseen circumstances the start date was postponed. We are now in a position to advise that we are due to start on site on Monday 17th May 2021.

Traffic management will be necessary for a period of five months whilst the compound is set up, near the existing Treatment Works and the pipeline along the main road is installed.

We will continue to update you all on how the works progress but in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me or the project team if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks

Chris
