The construction phase of this project is now complete.
There may still be updates, so the project will remain here. We are still monitoring the project and will reply to any comments. So if you have any questions please feel free to comment or contact us here.
We are investing £2.2 million to improve the water supply in the west end of Newcastle.
Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. We do not expect to carry out any work on weekends and will notify you in advance if we need to do so.
With construction and demolition work, we expect there to be some disruption in the area surrounding our site. There will also be an increase in heavy traffic in the area, with vehicles transporting materials to and from the site using our access route as outlined on our site plan.
We do not plan to disrupt your water supply while work is carried out on this project. In the unlikely event that the team accidently disrupts the water supply, emergency procedures will be put in place immediately.
To allow construction traffic to access our site, we expect there will be disruption to some existing on-street parking arrangements. Where possible, it is recommended that vehicles are parked on private driveways rather than on the street. Advance notice and discussions will take place with residents who will be affected by this.
We work closely with the local council on many matters including bin collections. Please put your bin in the normal place and we will make sure that it is moved to a place where it will be emptied. In the unlikely event that a bin collection is abandoned, we will let you know and arrange a revisit.
The construction work we carry out will involve demolition in addition to the use of large machinery, digging up ground, pouring concrete and working with granular materials. These activities and materials will result in some dust, vibration and noise disruption. The site team will do everything they can to minimise any inconvenience caused by this and will make sure that the work is carried out safely. The site team will talk to any residents who will be impacted by our work in advance of the project starting.
Throughout the project we will make sure that roads are kept clean with a street sweeper when necessary.
Currently, soil and grass cover the reservoir tank. Once our work is complete, the shape of the ground will change slightly and will be recovered in soil and grass.

The Centre for Sport football pitches located at the rear of Westgate Community College will remain open throughout the works. A temporary stoned access track, lined with solid fencing, will be constructed along the perimeter of the field. The access track will be positioned so that sufficient clearance is maintained away from the football pitches.
