GENERAL PROJECT

Harrowgate Hill Rising Main

Looking after the environment and reducing the risk of pollution are two of our top priorities. As part of this commitment, we plan to invest within the sewerage network to replace a failing pumping main from Mayfair Road Pumping Station to North Road, Darlington.

Project updates

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hello,

It's been a while since we last posted an update on here. However, I wanted to share some good news with you all.

I am pleased to let you know that work in your area is now complete, two months earlier than planned!

Our work started in your area in June 2021, which involved laying new pipe from the pumping station on Lemon Grove, along Mayfair Road  and across the A167 to Longfield Road. Since replacing the existing pipeline, this has now improved the performance of the local sewer network and will ensure the sewer network continues to serve the customers’ needs in to the future.

I would like to reassure you that the only outstanding activity is the ongoing maintenance of the grassed area at Lemon Grove, which we will be monitoring until the grass has fully re-established.

On behalf of the Project Team, we would like to thank you all for your patience and support during our essential work. We have enjoyed working within your community to help improve the sewer network.

If you have any questions you would like answering, please leave a comment below, or visit the "contact" link at the top of the page. Alternativley, you can contact the Customer Centre on 0345 717 1100.

Thank you again.

Gaby

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Afternoon,

Work on site is continuing to progress well, so I thought I'd pop on to say hello, and let you know what to expect over the next few weeks.

Good news! The junction of Mayfair Road will be re-opened towards the end of next week.

From Friday 24th September, the two-way traffic lights currently along Mayfair Road adjacent to Oaklands Gardens will be removed. We will then be moving along Mayfair Road on to the junction of Lime Avenue where we will be carrying out work for approximately three weeks. During this time, we will be allocating a four-way traffic light system on the entrance to Lime Avenue, Lemon Grove and Laburnum Road. Residential and emergency service access will always be maintained, but if you do require any assistance our site team will be happy to help.

As always, please leave a comment below if you have any questions.

You can also reach the Customer Centre on 0345 717 1100, and request a call back from a member of the Project Team.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hello,

As promised, I thought I'd post a quick update with our plans for the next week.

You will have noticed that the bus terminus is now re-open and freshly reinstated. I am also pleased to let you know that the road closure on Myrtle Gardens will be removed by Thursday 9th September.

Once we have completed work on Myrtle Gardens, we will then be returning to the top of Mayfair Road. For safety reasons, it is necessary to implement a road closure on Mayfair Road junction which leads on to North Road for approximately three weeks. This is while we finish this section of pipeline which is due to be connected to the sewer network from the bus terminus. Access to Mayfair Road will be maintained via Glebe Road. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, as always, we will keep all disruption to an absolute minimum.

I have added some photos below which shows you what we have been busy with over the last couple of weeks.

Your patience and cooperation during this time is highly appreciated by our team.

Gaby

Good Morning,

It's been a while since our last update was posted, however the site team have been working hard and work is progressing well.

The installation of the pipeline at the bus terminus along North Road is almost complete, and we are pleased to let you know that we will be re-opening this area by the end of the week.

Work adjacent to Myrtle Gardens and Mayfair Road is still ongoing, however, we are aiming to complete this area within the next two weeks. Once it is safe to do so, we will then be able to re-open the junction of Myrtle Gardens.

I will be posting another update prior to the re-opening of Myrtle Gardens with more information on the next stages of our work.

I have added some photos below for you to take a look at.

In the mean time, if you have any questions please leave a comment below, or visit the "contact" button at the top of the page.

As always, we appreciate you're patience and support during our essential works. If you require any assistance, our site team will be happy to help.

Speak soon,

Gaby

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hello,

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

Here is a quick update on our work and what to expect in the upcoming weeks.

Work is progressing well on site, and I am pleased to let you know that we will be re-opening Mayfair Road junction later on today. Work will continue at the bus terminus adjacent to North Road and Longfield Road until the end of August.

The next stage of work will take place along Lemon Grove for around two weeks, and the junction of Myrtle Gardens for upto four weeks. It is necessary to implement a road closure on the junction of Myrtle Gardens and a two-way traffic light system along Mayfair Road during this time.

Access to Myrtle Gardens will be maintained via Glebe Road.

I would like to reassure you that we will do all we can to keep disruption to an absolute minimum, and all residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times. However, should you require any assistance our site team will be happy to help.

Please feel free to leave a comment below with any questions you may have.

Thank you for your continued patience during this time.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hello,

Since my last update a couple of weeks ago, you may have noticed we have been busy setting the site compound up along Lemon Grove. This is now fully established, and we are ready to start our main construction work.

As of next week, the first stages of our work will begin on North Road and Mayfair Road. The junction accessing Mayfair Road from North Road will be closed from Monday 19th July for around 4-6 weeks. Access to Mayfair Road will be maintained via Glebe Road.

There will also be a bus stop closure on North Road, adjacent to Longfield Road. While this bus stop is temporarily out of use, we kindly ask you to use the next nearest bus stop which is along Longfield Road. I have attached a plan below which shows you the location of our work, along with bus stop locations and road closures.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. However, myself and the Site Team are always happy to help should you require any assistance.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

On behalf of the Project Team, we would like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Gaby
