NIDP FLOODING PROJECT

Haydon Bridge

We are currently undertaking a Stage Two Northumbria Integrated Drainage Partnership (NIDP) study in Haydon Bridge.

Stage One Study

The stage 1 study includes the collection, collation and analysis of existing flooding data to define issues and opportunities for integrated working between the project partners. The process allows us to identify all of the flooding issues in a drainage catchment, whether these are sewer flooding, surface water flooding from overland flow or flooding from watercourses.

All of the issues identified are mapped and grouped into risk areas which are then ranked in order of priority based on the number of homes they impact.

The Haydon Bridge Stage 1 Study identified 6 broad risk areas, 5 on the north bank of the Tyne and one on the south bank. The decision was made to progress all of the risk areas to Stage 2 for further investigation by the partnership with the exception of the Haydonside area which will remain with Northumberland County Council.
