GENERAL PROJECT
CURRENT WEATHER
15°C

Killingworth & Longbenton

Together with our project partners, the Environment Agency and North Tyneside Council, we are investing over £5 million to manage surface water in the Killingworth and Longbenton areas of North Tyneside. This work will increase the capacity of the combined sewer thereby reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall. The work is to be completed in 3 phases; Longbenton High School and Benton Green & Cemetery, Forest Hall & Killingworth Moor and finally Killingworth Lake. Phase 1 and 2 are now completed and the work around Killingworth Lake started in Summer 2018.

Good morning all,

Just a few lines to keep everyone up to date with progress.

Works are continuing in the village green, as can be seen, work is slow due to ground conditions and the recent wet weather conditions

We are also working albeit slowly on the new playing fields for the High School, again due to weather & wet ground conditions

I hope you will continue to be patient while we carry out the works

Thanks, John.

HI all

I have spoken with the site team and would like to provide you with a progress update. We have now constructed 30% of manhole 4A, 90% of the pipework between manhole 4 and manhole 5 and we have now started the box culvert sections between manhole 4A and manhole 4. All together this means that the Benton Village Green area is about 70% complete.

Thanks

Tony

Hi

Following on from the ducks we had on site last month, we had another interesting visitor last week - this swan was enjoying the fine Autumnal sunshine and having a splash around!

Hi Everyone

I have spoken to the site team and would like to provide this week's progress update:

We are still installing the pipe work from Manhole 5 to Manhole 4 and are still waiting to install the drainage to the school fields. We will hopefully be starting that tomorrow.

We're still progressing well and within our target.

Hi all

John is on his holidays for the next couple of weeks, so in his absence I'd like to provide an update on the progress of the project:

We have finished constructing one of the three man holes that are situated within the Village Green. Works are progressing well with the remaining pipe work meaning the scheme is scheduled to finish within the original timescales.

For those who were unable to attend the Consultation Event last week, we have also placed some information boards on to the site fencing showing the new proposed layout for the village green upon completion of our works, please take a look as you're passing.

See you later

Hello Everyone

I had the pleasure of meeting some of you yesterday at the Public Consultation Event at Benton Dene Primary School. I enjoyed talking about the plans with everyone and particularly enjoyed talking about local history with some of the residents who have lived in the area for many years. We took on board quite a few excellent suggestions and will pass them to the design team to hopefully incorporate into the final plans.

Thank you to those who attended
