GENERAL PROJECT

Lynemouth Sewage Treatment Works Upgrade

We are investing over £3 million to improve storm and preliminary treatment at Lynemouth sewage treatment works to improve the quality of effluent discharging to Lyneburn and meet the demands of an increasing population in the wider catchment. Our sewage treatment works aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good afternoon since my last update work has progressed as planned.

The construction of the new road is complete and the drainage and service pipe work to the wash press installed, the concrete pour took place earlier this week on the road and wash press. The wash press is part of the screening process that removes large objects that may block or damage equipment or pollute our rivers. This includes items that should never have been put down the drain, such as nappies, wet wipes, sanitary items and cotton buds, and sometimes even things like bricks, bottles and rags.

There are some pictures below of the different stages of the process.

Other tasks complete within this time have included the re-grading of the land an installation at the sock stock proof fencing.

Over the next four weeks we plan to carry out installation of the palisade fencing, the mechanical install on the wash press equipment and installation of the stock proof fencing.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your patience during this time, and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Thanks

Sarah
