GENERAL PROJECT

Lynemouth Sewage Treatment Works Upgrade

We are investing over £3 million to improve storm and preliminary treatment at Lynemouth sewage treatment works to improve the quality of effluent discharging to Lyneburn and meet the demands of an increasing population in the wider catchment. Our sewage treatment works aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Update by Paul Davison

Good morning,

It’s a cold frosty start this morning but we can’t grumble given we’re nearly into December.

We are continuing to make good progress on site, and as Sarah shared at the last update, the concrete access road and new screen handling slab is complete and we are currenting installing the new section of security fencing. The galvanised steel palisade fence is a little shiny at the moment but it will soon weather and dull down, however, we’ll be re-planting hedging behind the fence in the Spring so in time, the new section will blend in with the existing fence.

We’ve also started to construct the base slab and cable trench for our new MCC (Motor Control Centre) panel and kiosk which will power and control all of the new plant and equipment we will be installing later in the project. With the base slab construction ongoing, we’re hoping to take delivery and install the kiosk just before the Christmas which will allow us to start preparing for electrical work in the new year.

I’ve added a few photos below for interest.

Regards
