GENERAL PROJECT

Marden Quarry Sewage Pumping Station

Together with our partners Interserve, we plan to carry out work between the 4 January 2021 until the end of June 2021 at Marden Quarry Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) although we will be carrying out enabling works prior to these dates. The project represents a £1.5 million investment which will see an upgrade of the mechanical and electrical equipment within the SPS.

Hello everyone. We have completed a lot of work at the Marden Quarry site since my last update. The works at Marden Quarry have progressed well over the past month. All four pumps have now been replaced and are operational, including the pipework and associated valves. The new electrical panel is installed and operational. The ventilation system has been replaced and is due to be commissioned in the next week.

Hello everyone. In today's update, I want to share how our site teams are managing the environmental impact our works may have on the local environment and on our neighbours. Before we started any works on site, our site team and Northumbrian Water carried out Environment Impact assessments. We investigated how the site operations could impact on the Nature Reserve and on our neighbours. We agreed the control measures with the Northumbrian Water management team. There are no bats or great crested newts in the area of the works. There are no nesting birds in the Northumbrian Water compound area but there are nesting birds in the lake and nature reserve areas. There are no invasive or pernicious species to worry about. We have liaised closely with the North Tyneside park ranger. There have not been any issues or concerns. We continue to monitor the area around the works to ensure we can mitigate any effects on the local wildlife or environment.

Hello everyone. Hope you all had a pleasant and safe Bank Holiday weekend. I today's update, I want to tell you about the many migratory and indigineous birds that are present at this nature reserve and how we ensure we do not affect the lives of these birds. Our most interesting neighbours are the Canadian geese that have flown in for the nesting season. They nest on the island in the lake. We also have an abundance of water hens and mallards in the nature reserve. Our site teams have to follow some rules. We do not park our cars or machinery outside the coumpound and we monitor the noise levels from site to ensure we do not disturb the birds in the nature reserve. The site has a number of environmental "spill kits" that are available at strategic locations. These will be used in the unlikely event of an oil, petrol or deisel spillage. We also have some magpies resident in the nearby trees. Our protective measure are in place to prevent the site operations becoming a nuisance to our neighbours (both human and birds). We have not had any issues on site. Well done to the site team.

Hello again. I today's update, I want to share news on our site progress and give you some details about some of the works our site teams are carrying out. We have agreed a programme of interventions with Northumbrian Water. This is where our site teams will connect new plant and equipment into the existing infrastructure. For mechanical works, we have 4 interventions planned where our site teams will install new pumps in the main water pipe. Our electricians have agreed details of 2 electrical tie-ins. These works will be carried out with close co-operation with Northumbrian Water staff to ensure all safety controls are agreed and in place before we start any works. Our site teams are currently replacing 4 of the existing pumps, the mortor control centre (MCC) and the ventillation system. We are making good progress and are on target to achieve the next programme milestone.

Hello. Works at our Marden Quarry site are progressing well. We have a number of teams on site. In this update, I want to share the progress we are making on mechanical and electrical works. We have replaced pump number 4 on site. The new pump installation is complete and the pump is operational. We are planning to replace pump number 3 next week. The installation of the electrical MCC (control unit) is progressing well. The installation is about 50% complete. The wiring and cabling works are progressing well. Our electricians are working in several locations. The installation of the internal and external lighting is progressing very well.
