Project updates

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Morning,

Well, the team have started !!!!!!

You will have noticed the gates towards the riverbank are being removed and the entrance widened to allow vehicle access.  The team will be creating the haul road along the riverside towards the pumping station. This prep work will take a week or two before the "real" stuff starts.

Our team will be more than happy to answer any questions whilst we are working there, however please adhere to social distancing please.

Thank you in advance for your patience and if you are out and about either driving or taking your daily exercise please be a little more vigilant as your safety is paramount to us.

Joan

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Morning,

Just following on from Tina's post I thought I too would take the opportunity to introduce myself, I'm Joan Tatters and I'm Mott MacDonald Bentley's (MMB) Customer Liaison Officer for this project.

In advance of our work you will have noticed our team have been out trimming trees and shrubs in advance of the nesting season so as not to disturb the birds and other wildlife in the area as we will be starting work the beginning of March.

As we are a little short on space we will be introducing a new compound adjacent to the river, using the layby on the top road and an area within the inlet works opposite.

Our team will be around over the next few days so please say hello should you see them (socialling distant of course).

Please feel free to ask me anything you like about the project I'd be happy to discuss, you can either use the portal or email me at MMBCustomerservice@mottmac.com

Here are a few photos from the bulb planting Tina mentioned.

Update by Tina Robinson

Good morning,

Just a quick note to introduce myself, my name is Tina Robinson and I am a Project Manager for Northumbrian Water delivering capital projects across the region.  I am excited to be involved in the works planned this summer for the Ovingham pumping station.  Our partners MMB will be establishing site within the next few weeks and in the meantime may need to carry out trimming back of vegetation to ensure our works can be carried out safely.  From mid March 2021 for a couple of weeks, we will have traffic lights in place on Ovingham Road to allow us create a small temporary car park for site staff and to ensure there is a safe route for the site team from the site cabins to the pumping station.

We would like to support the local community whilst we are working in your area.  So far, we have sponsored the local parish council in Ovingham in the planting of spring bulbs and would like to thank Doreen Jordan and all volunteers for their help in organising this.  Please don't hesitate to contact me and the team via the portal if you have any questions or issues that you want to raise.  Stay safe - Tina
