I'm pleased to be able to confirm that we've substantially completed our sewage treatment works refurbishment at Rothbury STW. The upgrade work included the construction of the following to improve the performance and reliability of the sewage treatment works to ensure it continues to provide the highest standards of service:

• new inlet works screens and flow control / recording
• 2 new PST c/w ½ bridge scrapers
• New auto de-sludge pumping station
• Full electrical upgrade including MCC panel and kiosk, and a new SCADA computer control system
• Re-purpose of existing Pumping Station into HSAF Tertiary Treatment PS.
• Two brand new HSAF units
• Storm Tank upgrade works to increase capacity.
• Installation of 2 new recirculation pumps
• De-commission and removal of old sludge PS and associated pumps and pipework.
• Installation of new MCERTS flow meter and chamber.

While we have completed all construction work, there are still some minor reinstatements and electrical tie-ins to be carried out. We will be de-mobilising the site compound week commencing Monday 21st November which should take up to a week. During this time, there will be an increase of vehicle movement along Wagtail Road and Mill Lane so please take care if you are in the area.

As work continues to progress well, I thought I'd share an update on what will be happening on site over the next five weeks:

-  The HSAF Pumping Station refurbishment will take place along with the Pumping Station Valve Chamber works. The flow comes out of the Pumping Station, through the valve chamber and into the HSAF. To carry out the refurbishments we will need to take the old pumps offline, during this time we have some temporary pumps so everything is still running through the works as normal. 

-  The access road within the Sewage Treatment Works boundary will be reinstated.

-  Our subcontractor, Intelect, will carry out the installation of electrical cables which are then to be tested. 

-  Refurbishment of the Storm Tanks which involves lifting the wall in the storm tanks to increase the capacity. Materials such as bricks, sand, cement etc. have already been delivered ready for the work to commence.

You may have noticed that we had North East Site Services attend site yesterday, to reinstate the potholes along Wagtail Road. We are aware that the potholes have been a bit of a concern, especially to those using the road on a regular basis. I've included some photos, especially of some of the larger potholes, now that they have been filled.

Regarding work on site, the team are continuing to progress well. More landscaping has been carried out with the concrete roads around the Primary Settlement Tanks, and HSAF units being poured. 
Our subcontractors, Intelect, are in the process of installing electrical cables around the site through the new Draw Pits Chambers. The Draw Pits are designed for the electrical cables to be pulled through to different areas around the Treatment Works from the Motor Control Centre kiosk.

I hope you're all enjoying this lovely weather we're having!

Just following on from my recent update on the HSAF delivery, I thought I'd pop on and share some photos with you now that they are installed. I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and cooperation during the delivery of the HSAF.

The concrete footpaths around the PST's (Primary Settlemant Tanks) have been laid. Over on the filter beds, the rotating arm on filter bed 1 has been replaced.

The site team have become very proud of their newest guests taking up residency on site. As you can see in the photo included, we have had some swallows nesting in our store cabins. 

I'll be posting more updates in the upcoming weeks so keep a look out!

Good afternoon,

I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend celebrating the Jubilee.

It was lovely speaking with some of you yesterday while I was delivering letters with information on our upcoming delivery. 

Please be aware that on Thursday 9th June, we are expecting a large delivery along Wagtail Road and Mill Lane to the Sewage Treatment Works. We kindly ask that cars are parked consideratley, leaving enough room for the wagons. We expect the delivery to take place mid-morning, however unexpected delays can occur so please stay extra vigilent if you are walking along the access road throughout the day. I have included a copy of the letter delivered here.

Following on from my previous post, I thought I'd post a quick update of progress on site over the last three weeks.

Prior to the HSAF installation, the steel reinforcement and shutters have been constructed ready for the concrete to be poured for the base of the HSAF. Please see the photos below which shows the steel reinforcement and shutters.

The wiring for the MCC (Motor Control Centre) Panel has been connected to the rest of site.

We'll be in touch once we have confirmation on our HSAF delivery!

I hope you all had a lovely long Easter weekend.

I thought I'd jump on and give you an update on what has been happening on site.

The MCC (Motor Control Centre) kiosk has been installed and the electrical wiring is now going ahead. The footpaths around the MCC kiosk and emergency generator slab have been concreted. We are currently in preparation for the installation of the HSAF (Hybrid Submerged Aerated Filter) which is a biological wastewater treatment system, and the final stage of the treatment works. I have added a photo below which shows the underground pipework coming up through the blinding ready for the HSAF. We are estimating the delivery of the HSAF to be in May. Once we have a scheduled delivery date, we will let you know.

I just wanted to let you know that we are expecting the delivery of the MCC Kiosk on Tuesday 12th April. This will be slightly larger than our usual deliveries, so we just wanted to kindly ask residents along Wagtail Road and Mill Lane to leave plenty of room when parking cars, for the delivery wagon to get to and from site. We would also like to remind you to stay extra cautious if you are in the area. We do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause however, the safety of the public and our team is extremely important to us.

Hello, 

I'm fortunate enough to be visiting Rothbury today while the sun is shining, so I thought I'd come on and give you a quick update on our work.

As mentioned on my previous update, the team have started work on the Motor Control Centre (MCC) kiosk. The Emergency Generator is now in place and the MCC kiosk itself will be delivered and erected on Tuesday 12th April with the control panel installed within the kiosk the following day. 

Work is now progressing on the HSAF units’ slab and associated pipework. 

The half bridge scrapers are mounted on to Primary Settlement Tanks (PST) 1 and 2 which can be seen in the photos below. 

I’d just like to politely remind you to remain extra vigilant when walking down Wagtail Road towards the STW, as we have regular large deliveries coming to and from site.

I hope you're all well and keeping warm and safe away from this storm!

I wanted to post a quick update with how work has been progressing on site. The team have completed the construction work to the inlet chamber, screens and balance tanks. I have added some photos below of the balance tank pipe work along with the removal and replacement of the screens. The next stage of work is due to commence on the Motor Control Center (MMC) kiosk and base. I will be posting some updates in the upcoming weeks with photos of the MCC.

The community board has been updated with an up to date schedule if you are interested to see what will be happening on site in the upcoming weeks/month.
