Project updates

Update by Rachel Rutter

Good Afternoon All,

I am pleased to confirm we are now off Grand Parade with two  way traffic flowing.

Over the last week, the site team have been concentrating on trial pits and investigation work. More trial pits are needed next week on Percy Park Road/Grand Parade junction to determine the best route to install the rising main past the junction.

As the Mouth of the Tyne Festival is coming soon we will be backfilling trenches and removing all of the traffic management next Wednesday 06 July and returning on Tuesday 12th July.

Please contact us direct if you have any questions at nwl.customer@esh.uk.com or 0191 3774500.

Thank you

Morning All,

Hope you had a lovely bank holiday weekend

Our site team has made great progress in the last couple weeks although faced difficulties with deliveries and strong wind.

We are pleased to advise the rising main is now installed up to the slip road leading to the beach. Due to this we have been able to reopen the parking bays on Percy Garden and over the weekend the team have been able to shorten the lane closure allowing two way traffic from the slip road.

Should you have any questions please email me on NWL.Customer@esh.uk.com.

Thank you

Good Afternoon All,

As our work continues I wanted to let you know the changes that have currently been made based on the feedback received.  We have been able to widen the footpath from 1.2 metres to 2 metres and new signage has been put in place to help with businesses.

Our site team have also used a solar pod which is giving us 90% of our power on sunny days, as we continue to be mindful of our carbon footprint.

The team were delayed by one day due to a concrete obstruction in the ground, they were able to use a specialist concrete cutting contractor to remove the concrete in sections to avoid damage to existing utility’s. Due to this we will be excavating and laying the new pipe as planned.

Should you have any questions please email me on NWL.Customer@esh.uk.com.

Thank you

Update by Christine Taylor

Good morning,

As you will have noticed our team are now on site.  Last week the team were setting up the compound area.  The traffic management is now in place on Grand Parade, which has allowed the team to saw cut the trench, start the trial pits, stone up and set up the fencing in the compound.

At this time, I thought it would be a good time to introduce Simon Bright, our Site Agent for the project.  Simon is always on site, managing the site and day to day activities.  He is happy to discuss any concerns with customers if approached direct.

We will aim to keep residents updated regularly as the project progresses.

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is Christine Taylor and I am the Customer Service Manager for Esh Stantec, the supply partner carrying out the works.  Myself  and my colleague, Rachel, were out this afternoon knocking on doors and speaking to some businesses.  I would like to thank you all for taking the time to chat with us.

For those we missed, we will be back out tomorrow morning and then in Crusoe's, Longsands, tomorrow afternoon from 1-5pm.  They have kindly agreed to let me sit in their restaurant, and allow local residents to drop by and chat to our site team.

You can also contact us direct on the portal or via email, nwl.customer@esh.uk.com to arrange a one to one appointment.

Once again thank you for taking the time to meet us today, and hopefully I will see some of our customers tomorrow.

I will post introductions to our site team in the upcoming week.

Christine
