Murton Flooding

Together with our supply partner, ESH-MWH, we have undertaken a detailed study of the sewer network to establish the cause of flooding in the area. We want to keep you informed about our investigations and work we are considering in the Woods Terrace area.

Hi

Just a quick update.

As you will be aware our works start on the 6 February 2017, when we will start to construct our working area to the rear of Woods Terrace, on the grassed area between James Street South and Western Terrace North.

On Monday you may notice road signage giving advance warning of the upcoming works, this is nothing to be alarmed about.  We will write to all residents who will be impacted by the works prior to it happening.

Have a great weekend and see you all soon

Christine

Update by Christine Taylor

Hi all

As you may be aware, Northumbrian Water along with Esh-MWH have undertaken a £1.2million Flood Alleviation Scheme at Wood’s Terrace, Murton to upgrade the sewer system and install a storage tank. This will involve replacing the pipes in the rear lane of Wood’s Terrace and in James Street, as well as installing a storage tank in the green behind North Coronation Street to help with drainage. Work starts on 6th February 2017 and will be completed by 31 July 2017.

Over the Christmas period you may of seen myself or my colleague Tony knocking on doors in the local area explaining the works and introducing ourselves as we tried to contact all customers affected by the project.

Allow me to introduce the project team:

My name is Christine Taylor, the Customer Service Manager working for ESH-MWH on behalf of Northumbrian Water. I have already had the pleasure of meeting some members of the local community and over the period of the works you may see me walking around the area with the project team. Please feel free to come and introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have, alternatively you can post messages here on the portal.

Dave Player, is the Contracts Manager for the scheme working for ESH/MWH on behalf of Northumbrian Water Ltd. He will oversee the progress of works on site, upgrading and upsizing the sewerage system including the installation of a storage tank. Dave will be helping to maintain high levels of safety, quality and customer engagement.

Steve Bennison is our Project Manager for the project, he will be working on site throughout the duration of the work; overseeing the daily operations of the scheme delivery.

Tony Birkett will be the appointed Community Liaison Officer, he has already met many of our local residents and introduced himself. Tony will be on site weekly providing support to the site team and the local community. He will be happy to help with any queries you may have.
