Murton Flooding

Together with our supply partner, ESH-MWH, we have undertaken a detailed study of the sewer network to establish the cause of flooding in the area. We want to keep you informed about our investigations and work we are considering in the Woods Terrace area.

Project updates

Update by Christine Taylor

Good morning everyone,

We just want to keep you all informed about the upcoming works.  As we have mentioned before the metal sheets that we installed at the beginning of our works to enable the tank to be installed now need to be removed.

The work is planned to start on Monday.  This will mean an increase in noise and vibration which will be monitored on site.

Removing the metal structure may take up to 5 days, and we appreciate your patience whilst this work is being carried out.

If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to comment here or contact us direct.  My lovely colleague Tony Birkett is on site this morning delivering letters of notification.

Thanks again

Christine

hi everybody,

just a quick update on the works carried out recently, we have finished installing the new drainage in the grassed area ( james st south ) and have made the connection into the existing drainage on north coronation st. This has been temporarily reinstated to allow us to remove the road closure. Our landscapers will visit the grassed area next week to prepare and seed. we will leave the pedestrian barriers in place till the grass has had time to get established. The storm tank is now complete and we are in the process of reinstating this area. The drainage works to the rear off woods terrace are ongoing and the works to the rear of the co op are now complete and again temporarily reinstated to allow us to remove fencing and open these areas back up.

have a great weekend everybody

Good morning,

Isn't it great to see the sun out?

Maybe summer is finally on its way...

I thought I would take the time to point out the 'Rate this project' feature on this portal on the right hand side of the screen.

It would be great if you could take the time to let us know how we are doing?

We will update the portal with our work later this week.

Enjoy the sunshine

Christine

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi Everyone

I've been out and about in Murton today trying to inform residents of our work next week. As Dave said in his update this morning, on Tuesday 2 May 2017, we'll need to close a small part of Coronation Street North for up to 2 weeks. A copy of the letter that I delivered to effected residents is found here for those who haven't received a copy.

We apologise for any inconvenience and will do our upmost to finish the work as quickly as we can.

Tony

P.S. the weather has been miserable today, so I've attached a picture of sunnier weather in Murton!

Hello Everyone

Works on site are progressing well and I wanted to provide an update on the different sections of works;

Tank Construction - The new tank is now installed with all works expected to be complete this week. On Tuesday we will start to bury the tank with earth we expect this operation to take around 4 days. Once filling is complete we will start to remove the sheet piles, we will provide regular updates and inform you all when this operation will commence.

Drainage Installation - We have been installing a pipe below ground through the junction on Western Terrace, during these works we have experienced varying ground conditions that have caused us some delay and also prevented reinstatement to the rear of the COOP. The works are now progressing so we will be able to start reinstating in the next few weeks. These works have caused us to reprogramme the works to St James Street to minimise delays.

St James Street - We have installed a new pipe up the grass area on St James street this pipe connects to the existing drainage on Coronation Street North, as a result we have planned to close Coronation Street North from Tuesday 2 May for up to 10 days. A diversion route will be in place and we apoligise for any inconvenience caused.

The grassed area will be reinstated as soon as possible we understand the fencing is intrusive so at the earliest opportunity it will be reduced to a smaller fence to prevent damage to the new grass seed and prevent muddy boots!

Stephens Road

Hello everyone, you may have noticed that we have commenced some preliminary works for this scheme. We currently have a contractor clearing trees to allow us to complete some investigation works next week prior to the scheme commencing.

Please be aware of the heavy plant in operation when visiting the area.

Many thanks

David

afternoon everybody,

we are nearly at the end of another busy week so i just wanted to provide you with an update on our progress so far. The storm tank is coming along nicely, we will have all the internal columns in and the roof on this week. we plan to place temporary tarmac to as much of the drainage trench to the rear of woods terrace as we can with a view to taking a lot of the fencing down next week. This will then remain down till after the bank holiday weekend and when we return on Tuesday18th we will be setting up more fencing further north on woods terrace and will continue to install the new drainage system. I have added some photos of the tank and will put more on as this progresses.

Morning everyone,

The weekend is here again, this week has been very busy as works progress with the storm tank installation. I have posted a few photos so you can see what it looks like. we will be having a crane on site again on thursday and friday next week to place the internal walls and start putting the roof on, so again on these two days you will notice an increase in site traffic but as always we will try to keep any disruption minimal. All other works on the drainage are continuing to progress nicely.

enjoy the weekend

Hi everybody,

Things are starting to get busy on site now as we have started working on the storm tank installation. The guys have been busy placing concrete in the bottom of the hole, ready to place the wall units of the tank. The wall units will be delivered to site on monday and tuesday next week so there will be a small increase in site traffic over those two days. you may also notice a large crane on site which will be used to lift these into place. The works to the rear of woods terrace are continuing to go well and we have started to put in temporary tarmac with a view to moving our fencing further up the street. A second drainage gang are now on site as we have also started the works behind the co-op.

enjoy the weekend everybody and dont forget to put your clocks forward.
