Update by Christine Taylor

Hi

I visited site last Thursday for the first time in while.  The difference is great.

The main site cabins had been removed and the fencing was still in place.  I have been in touch with the site team who have advised that it was difficult to finish the work last week due to the wet weather.

However they hope to grass seed the area later this week, which will enable us to remove the fencing.

I have attached some photos from last week, I think the area is looking very tidy althoughI know the team have a little more to do.

We will be writing to all the local residents to ensure everyone is updated in the next two weeks.  In the meantime I have attached a link which will enable our customers to feedback on the service received during the scheme.  Please take the time to let us know how we did.  The reference for the project is 'Murton'

Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone

As you will see, work at Woods Terrace is finally showing signs of finishing! I was there this afternoon and spoke to the team who told me that all is going well; We're starting to remove all the machinery and this should be gone by the weekend. Then next week we'll start to remove the compound and fencing. We're inthe process of reinstating the green, but obviously it will take time for the grass to become established.

I'm sure you'll all agree, it will be nice to finally finish!

Hi all

I want to thank those who attended the meeting at Ribbon Community Primary School the other night to discuss the next phase of work at Stephens Road.  It was lovely to see you all.

I thought it would be great to let you all know what is happening in the next phase so I have taken some information from the letter that was distributed in the area, please see below.

Together with our supply partner, ESH-MWH, Nothumbrian Water plan to carry out over £2 million of investment work between Monday 3 July 2017 and Thursday 31 May 2018. This essential work will be carried out in Stephens Road, Wellfield Road, Gowland Square and the wooded area to the north of Wetherburn Avenue.

The work will include the upsizing of existing sewers and the laying of new sewers. All these works, when completed, will be below ground with only manhole covers in the highways left visible.

Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. While weekend working is not envisaged, it may become necessary however, any customers directly affected will be consulted prior to any planned weekend working.

During this work, construction traffic will need access to all working areas and to our temporary site compound which will be located in the wooded area to the north of Webb Avenue.

We are working closely with Durham County Council to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be tidying up the area of Woods Terrace and moving along.  We will be keeping you informed of our progress.

See you all soon

Christine

Good Afternoon Everyone

Steve is on holiday this week so I'm going to give you a quick update. Works are now significantly complete and we are reinstating the roads and the tank area.

On Tuesday we will be resurfacing the roads and paths for up to 4 days during this time we would appreciate your help by avoiding parking in the area. When we have completed the surfacing we will reinstate the grassed area and remove the remaining materials.

Many thanks for your help and patience during the scheme

David

Next week we will continue with putting things back as they were before we arrived. we plan to carry out the permanent tarmac reinstatement works beginning Tuesday the 20th June, which will require traffic lights on north coronation street for a short duration. On Wednesday next week the site cabins will be getting replaced with a much smaller cabin to help us complete the reinstatements.

Hi everyone,

As mentioned previously we have been removing the sheet piles this week that were put in whilst we were building the tank. This went very well and is now finished. Next week we will begin to remove the stone that was put in for these works, and start replacing all the soil that was removed. Due to this you may notice a slight increase in site traffic whilst these works are carried out. The drainage works to the rear of woods terrace continues to progress nicely. once we have replaced the soil we will be looking to start replacing the footpaths that were removed from across the grass area. I have attached a video of the pile extraction if anybody would like to see how it was done.

enjoy the glorious sunshine and have a very enjoyable bank holiday weekend everybody.

steve.
