Murton Flooding

Together with our supply partner, ESH-MWH, we have undertaken a detailed study of the sewer network to establish the cause of flooding in the area. We want to keep you informed about our investigations and work we are considering in the Woods Terrace area.

Project updates

Update by Christine Taylor

Good afternoon,

I have been to site this afternoon to catch up with the site team.  They are feeling positive that we are on schedule, and we should have great news for everyone very soon.

The works in Stephens Road are coming to an end, we should be able to provide a final update by the end of the week.  In Wellfield Road our works continue at full steam ahead.  The last bank holiday in May fast approaches and we know that residents would like our Traffic Management removed.  Steve, our Site Manager, is working tirelessly to manage this, but at this point in time we are unable to confirm.

We should be able to confirm tomorrow night if this is possible.

I will be in touch very soon

Hi,

Well it looks like we finally have the nice weather we have waited so long for, this has really helped us with our works within the fields to the rear of Stephens Road as attached photos show. Everywhere is now nice and dry. we are now working in the junction of Lumsdens Square and Huntley Square, this is the final section of work within this area. work continues on Wellfield Road with two way traffic lights still in place. In the coming weeks we will be looking at carrying out the permanent reinstatment to the roads.

hope you all have a lovely extended weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Hi Everyone

I have been down to Murton this morning, informing those affected of our next move. On Monday 30 April 2018 our fenced working area will move further along Stephens Road into the junction with Lumsdens Square and Huntley Square. This will result in a road closure at this point for up to 3 weeks. Here is a copy of the letter I distributed today.

Enjoy the weekend

Tony

Happy Thursday!

Its nearly the weekend and the weather has improved over the last couple of weeks.

I visited site yesterday and spoke to a few residents and discussed our progress.  It is great to see our site team smiling, working hard and pushing along Stephens Road.  We will be moving again soon. Tony will be speaking to everyone very soon and update the portal.

The project team have met this morning on site to discuss our progress and upcoming works.  We are all confident that we are on programme and will be away from site in July 2018.  Myself, Tony and Steve will continue to keep you updated over the final few months.

We all want to thank all the residents for your co-operation and understanding whilst we are carrying out our works.

Thanks

Christine

Hi Everyone

I was in the area yesterday and had the pleasure of speaking to residents on Stephens Road about the progress of our work. Today the fencing will be moved further along Stephens Road and we will reinstate the road where the work is finished. Work is also continuing along Wellfield Road and in the fields behind Stephens Road and Wetherburn Avenue where we are removing the temporary access track that was installed. This will result in an increase in site traffic removing the track from site, so you may notice a slight increase in dirt on roads, but the site team are doing their best to keep on top of that! Here is a copy of the letter that was distributed to residentes of Stephens Road.

Hope you enjoy the good weather this week

Hi,

As mentioned in Tony's post, we now have the two way traffic lights on wellfield road as we continue to install the new drainage. The drainage work on stephens road continues as we work up towards the junction to metcalfe crescent. Both areas are going well and we continue to make good progress. unfortunately we are unable to finish works in the fields to the rear of stephens road due to the continuous wet weather, but surely we are due some sunshine for us all to enjoy.

have a great weekend

steve.

Hi everybody,

As we get ready for the bank holiday the sun is shining, lets hope it shines all weekend. Back to progress we have now finished the work at the junction of metcalfe crescent / stephens road and will be moving back to the opposite end of metcalfe crescent on tuesday. We will be putting out two way traffic lights on wellfield road to enable us to carry out these works. As mentioned last time work has been minimal on stephens road this week due to carrying out important safety training for our staff, this is now complete and things will return to normal on tuesday.

hope you all enjoy the long weekend

Hi everyone,

I mentioned in my last update that we would be finished works in metcalfe crescent this week, unfortunately we haven't quite finished due to some challenging conditions, but fully anticipate these works being complete prior to the easter break next weekend. The work on stephens road has continued to progress well but unfortunately activity in this section will be minimal next week due to carrying out required safety training for our operatives.During this period we will reduce the fencing to a small work area.I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your co operation whilst we carry out these works.
