Project updates

Update by Christine Taylor

Hi

I have just received a call from a resident in Laburnum Road asking about the road closure tomorrow and access to their property.  Our site team were able to respond in a timely manner and provide reassurance that they can gain access by car to their property tomorrow night.  Remember the works on this section is for a short period of time and we are confident that this will cause minimum disruption. Please feel free to approach any of our team on site tomorrow if you have any questions.

Thank you for your patience

Christine

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi all

I was out and about on Friday afternoon trying to update those affected by this week's road closures. As you may know, we will be closing part of the rear lane of Laburnum Road on Tuesday 18 October 2016 until Wednesday 19th October 2016. Then on Thursday 20th October 2016, we will close part of the rear lane of Primrose Crescent until Friday 21st October 2016.

Next week we close the lane between Primrose Crescent and Primrose Cottages on Monday 24 October 2016 for 1 week.

We appreciate that this may cause some disruption to certain residents and we appreciate your understanding. As ever, we will endeavour to do what we can to help.

Thanks

Tony

Update by Steve Boyd (Project Manager)

Hi everyone,

A further update for you as follows:-

Ocean Park

We have currently installed a 1.500 meter diameter temporary pipe line diversion on to the existing network, and are completing connection works, this will allow follow up works of the removal of the existing 1.350 diameter brick culvert, closely followed by the construction of the actual attenuation tank.

Boldon Flats

We have commenced the new drainage networks from Cut Throat Dene, and are progressing quite well through the farmers field heading towards Boldon Flats

We fortunately used the good weather window over the past couple of weeks to progress with the preparation of topsoil stripping and deliveries of the new drainage pipes

Morrison's

We have commenced works on the sea front now in front of Martino's, excavating and installing the new drainage network, we have core drilled into the existing underground culverted water course making our connection, also constructed our first new manhole chamber

Once again this works will carried out in stages to minimize disruption and to maintain access where ever possible, we thank you for you patience.

Thank you,

Steve.

Update by Scott Jackson

Hi all, Just a quick update for you.

Construction works are currently being carried out in two areas, Sutherland Street and grass to the rear of Laburnum Road.

Sutherland Street is on course to be reopened on Friday. Works will then commence in Cromarty Street on Friday 14/10/16, which we intend to have complete within 12 weeks.

Grass to the rear of Laburnum Road will be used as a storage area over the next few months to allow works in adjacent areas run smoothly and on time. Works around the Laburnum Road area are expected to be complete around the same time as Sutherland Street.

Can all traffic please use the signed diversion routes.

Thanks

Scott

Update by Christine Taylor

Hi

We thought it was about time our site team at Roker introduced themselves, as they have hidden away for far too long.

Scott Jackson is our Project Manager based at the Roker compound, he is responsible for the overall construction activities at Roker and the St Peters compounds.

Scott works closely with both Stuart Dunn and Dave Eden, the site agents for these sites.  Stuart is responsible for the day to day general managment of the Roker site, whereas Dave looks after St Peters.

All of these gentlemen can be found around our sites and are happy to help with any customer queries.

Its a busy day on site today with some new visitors.  Maybe a few new faces will allow themselves to be introduced.

See you all soon

Christine

Update by Steve Boyd (Project Manager)

Hi everyone,

I'm Steve Project Manager, on part of the Whitburn Spills Reduction Scheme, I am currently looking after three elements of the whole project along with Paul Jones site agent, areas are as follows, along with an update for you.

Ocean Park

Following our initial site set up on the green to the rear of Morrison's Supermarket Car Park, we have commenced works on the new underground Attenuation tank, the weather has been very kind to us at the present so are we are making good progress with the excavation works as you can see by the photos attached.

Boldon Flats

We have commenced works at the down stream section of the new proposed drainage network, at Cut Throat Dene.

We have currently installed a temporary site access, and are stripping off topsoil to the proposed drainage easement alignment projecting across the arable farm field towards Boldon Flats, our intention is to commence excavating and installing the new drainage network middle of next week.

Morrison's

This section of the drainage upgrade works are within the footpath on the Sea front, outside of Martino's and the Amusement Arcade, we are to commence this coming Monday 3rd October 16, where we shall first of all, erect temporary fencing to create a safe working area for both our operatives and the general public.

This work will be intrusive, although we shall try to maintain access where ever possible and would apologize in advance for any inconvenience that may occur, we appreciate you patience as we carry out these essential drainage upgrade works.

Have a nice weekend, and catch will up with you next week with a further update.

Steve.

We start work on monday in the strip of grass between Laburnum Road and Primrose Crescent so unfortunately this area won't be available for the local kids to play. We'll be as quick as we can but expect the fencing to up for 8 weeks.

I'll be down again soon, hope to speak to some more of you then

Good morning,

If you have been in the Ocean Park area you may of seen our compound being constructed.  Steve and Paul on site have been kind enough to send some photos over of their progress, which I have included.

We know the area is used by the locals for walking the family dogs, so please be assured that the team have provided a pathway around the compound for this to continue.  Please let us know if there are any issues we should be aware of.

I have asked Tony, our Community Liaison Officer to introduce himself on here this week to put a face to his name.
