Project updates

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi All

I was also out informing local residents of some proposed late working we have planned. Our Ocean Park site are expecting concrete deliveries on Tuesday 6 December 2016 and Tuesday 20 December 2016. In both cases we will need to work until we finish so we don't waste the concrete. We'll work as fast as we can and expect to finish no later than 9pm. If the dates change for any reason we'll put an update on here.

Thanks

Tony

Hi all

As you know we are working in Glen Thorpe Avenue at the minute. Tomorrow afternoon, we are moving the fencing further along the road as far as the junction with Park Lea Road and Glenthorne Road. We have contacted those directly involved. We hope you appreciate that we will do all we can to minimise any disruption while we work and it should take less than 2 weeks to complete this section.

Update by Steve Boyd (Project Manager)

Hi all,

please see progress for this week below:-

Ocean Park

Following the heavy rain over the weekend and the continuation into Monday and Tuesday this week, things started off a little rough having to deal with site flooding conditions.

Following the afore mentioned we have continued to persevere through this and have still made good progress with installation of the Attenuation Tank.

Yesterday we carried out the installation of concrete with a mobile concrete pump, forming the first section of the Attenuation tank base, we had to work a little later than usual in order to complete, and would like to thank all local residents within the area for their patience during this operation.

Myself and Paul, would like to thank local residents, Ron Sayer and his friend for the fantastic Arial photograph taken of the Attenuation tank from his flying Drone/Copter during our concrete pour. (Photos attached)

Blodon Flats

Once again our team have persevered through the awful wet weather making good progress working across the farmers now flooded fields with the installation of the new drainage network from Cut Throat Dene towards Boldon Flats.

We have currently installed to date the new drainage up to and across the public Bridal Path whilst maintaining access to all, and have temporary reinstated  (Photos attached)

Morrison's

The site team are making good progress, in a very awkward and sensitive area on the sea front, we are having to work around existing services very carefully to install the new drainage network.

We have this week completed the new manhole outside of Betty's fish shop, and have have reinstated further block pavers opening up more access to the general public.

Our site team would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation whilst we carry out these essential works.

Have a good weekend, and we shall catch up with you next week.

Steve and Paul

Hi all

I was out in Seafields yesterday speaking with some of you about our working times this week. As you may now be aware, we are expecting a concrete delivery at the Ocean Park site on Thursday 24 November 2016 (not Wednesday 23 November) so will need to work through with that until we finish. We will work as quickly as we can but may need to work until 9pm. I hope we don't inconvenience you too much.

Thanks

Morning all

I know some of you in Primrose Crescent will have spoken to Stuart Dunn last night, but for those who didn't just to let you all know that we will be working in Primrose Crescent on Monday 21 November 2016. We will be moving the fencing further up the street away from Fulwell Road and working on the manhole the other side of the lane between Primrose Cottages and Primrose Crescent. We should be there for 2 more weeks. If you park you car in the street, please ensure that there is enough room for the fencing on Monday morning.

Thanks

Hi all, Just a short message to residents who live in and around Cromarty Street.

We intend to carry out low impact works this Saturday (19/11/16) - moving Traffic Management & fences further up Cromarty Street to the rear back lane of Inverness Street.

Hi All

I would like to share with you some of the great work we have done on our Weyhill Avenue Site in North Shields. On 3rd November 2016 many of the site team(myself included) volunteered our time to the Meadowell Connected Centre. We had a great time helping out, we helped to pot hanging baskets, make Christmas decorations and clean out the Guinea Pigs. I've attached a link to a Youtube clip of the afternoon, I hope you enjoy it:

Update by Steve Boyd (Project Manager)

Hi everyone its Steve,

I'm posting on the portal today because tomorrow I am attending a confined space refresher course, so this weeks progress is as follows:-

Ocean Park

This week we have progressed very well with the construction of the actual Attenuation Tank, accepting and installing as scheduled, the deliveries of the Pre Cast concrete units, we shall next week continue with the preparation for the installation of the concrete base slab to the first third of the tank, as you can see by the photos attached.

Please be advised that during some of our concreting operations, and the volume we are to install, there may be a requirement for the team to work a little later on the evening, although we will try to complete within our contracted hours of 8.00am till 6.00pm

We intend to carry out our first large concrete pour Wednesday 23rd November, our lovely customer service manager Christine, along with her colleague Tony intend to carry out a localized letter drop to residents within the area that may be affected.

Boldon Flats

Although the weather has been a bit unkind this week, we have still made reasonable progress with the installation of the new drainage network from Cut Throat Dene heading toward Boldon Flats.

We are heading off East to West, and will be approaching the bridal path between the two farmers fields, during the course of next week we intend to carry out the actual crossing, whilst maintaining access for horse riders and dog walkers.

Morrison's

We have now installed the new drainage network up to the end of Shore Amusements/Betty's Fish & Chip Shop, and are now constructing the new manhole which will be completed by this weekend.

We shall then be reinstating the block paver footpath in front of the fish shop on Monday 21st November, and our fencing will also be moved, which will maintain further access to the shop frontage/entrance.

Please be advised that the businesses are still open as usual.

Have a nice weekend, catch up with you next week.

Steve.

Update by Christine Taylor

Hi everyone,

On Friday night I met the owner of Martino's restaurant.  As you will see we are working outside but I thought I would take this oppotunity to remind everyone it is still open for business and welcoming its customers with a smile.

Feel free to drop in or give them a call

Christine

Hi

We mentioned when we sent the initial information out that we may occasionally need to work weekends. This weekend is one of those occasions. We will be working tomorrow in Cromarty Street and also the footpath parallel with Fulwell Road to Sutherland Street.

It is inevitable that there will be some disruption but we will do out utmost to ensure that this is at a minimum.

If you have any issues then please comment here or contact the site.

Thanks

Tony
