Rosehill Road, Willington Quay

Northumbrian Water is looking to improve the resilience and enhance the performance of the sewer network in the Willington catchment. We are proposing the construction of a new sewer overflow at the rear of Marina View, this work will be undertaken within the fenced off compound with site access taken from Rosehill Road. We will also be increasing the size of short sections of the existing sewer within Rosehill Road.

Project updates

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi Everyone

Well, as you will have seen, we are now set up and working. The compound is in place, so we've removed the traffic lights from Rosehill Road. We are now working on the pipework in the road, so there is a road closure in place between the junctions with Headlam View and Marina View. This is planned to be in place until 23 AUgust 2019, however, if we can get it reopened before that then we will! There will be further road closures in place afterwards, but we'll let you know about them in advance.

I've attached a couple of pictures of our compound set up, if you have any questions about the work please feel free to get in touch.

Regards

Tony

Hi Everyone

As you will have noticed, we've been setting up the compound on Rosehill Road this week - we've had traffic lights on the road to allow us to get in and out. From Monday 8 July 2019, we'll start digging in the road between the junction with Headlam Road and Marina View, so will need to close the road completely here. The traffic lights will remain in place initially, but as soon as we can take them off, we will as they will only be for residents of Headlam View and the row of houses on Rosehill Road.

The road closure is expected to be in place until 22 August 2019, but we will work as quickly as we can so if we can remove the closure beforehand then we will.

We delivered a letter to those whose access to Rosehill Road will be affected - a copy of thie can be found here.

Enjoy your weekend

Tony

Hi Everyone

I was out and about in the area this week notifying those overlooking the location of our compound that we will be setting up there from Monday 1 July 2019. This will result in two-way traffic lights, which will be on for 3 weeks - thanks to Scott for putting that traffic update on already. I've attached a copy of the letter which was delivered to those overlooking the location of the compound here.

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hello Everyone

As many of you will be aware, work is due to start on a sewer upgrade in your area soon.

My name is Tony Birkett; I am the Community Liaison Officer working for ESH-Stantec on behalf of Northumbrian Water. Some of you may have seen me walking round the area speaking to customers about the upcoming work in your area. I will often be in the area so if you see me please feel free to come and introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have, alternatively you can post messages here on the portal.

I'd like to introduce the project team, who will be on site regularly while we complete the project. We all share the responsibility to update the portal to ensure that everyone is kept up to date with the progress of the work and any news relating to the site.

The Project Team

Alan Croft, is the Contracts Manager for the scheme working for ESH-Stantec on behalf of Northumbrian Water Ltd. He will oversee all work on site.

Scott Jackson is our Site Manager for the project, he will be working on site throughout the duration of the work; supervising the daily operations of the scheme delivery.

Christine Taylor is the Customer Service Manager and will oversee community engagement. She will ensure a high level of customer service and community engagement.

All of us, at some point, will be posting updates on the portal during the scheme. If at anytime during the working day, you want to speak to someone regarding the works, Scott, Christine or I can usually be found in the Site Compound; located on Rosehill Road, near to the junction with Headlam View.

I've attached photos of the Project Team so if you see us about, please feel free to stop and ask any questions you may have.

I've also attached here, a copy of the letter recently sent by Northumbrian Water.
