Rosehill Road, Willington Quay

Northumbrian Water is looking to improve the resilience and enhance the performance of the sewer network in the Willington catchment. We are proposing the construction of a new sewer overflow at the rear of Marina View, this work will be undertaken within the fenced off compound with site access taken from Rosehill Road. We will also be increasing the size of short sections of the existing sewer within Rosehill Road.

Good morning,

We wanted to take this opportunity to wish all our customers a Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2020.  We would also like to thank you all for your patience and understanding whilst we have carried out our works, thank you for being amazing!

As you can see by the picture my team are in the festive mood.  Both Tony and Becky are taking time off to be with their loved ones over Christmas along with the site teams, but wanted to show off their Christmas jumpers.

I will be working over the Christmas and New Year period if you have any concerns.  You can contact me by commenting on this post or alternatively calling 03457 171100.

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi Everyone

I was out and about around Rosehill Road this afternoon liaising those affected by our next Traffic Management changes.

We are within the process of removing ourselves from site and have booked in the resurfacing on Rosehill Road. On Tuesday 17 December and Wednesday 18 December 2019 we will permanently reinstate the road surface between Marina View and Dilston Grange. During this period residents of Marina View will need to turn left when they leave their street. Then on Thursday 19 December 2019 we will reinstate between Marina View and Headlam View. During this period the same residents will need to turn right when they leave the street. A copy of the letter delivered to these residents can be found here. I've also attached a photo of the area in quesion.

On Friday 20 December 2019 all traffic lights and traffic management will be removed from site for good and we will leave site. You will however notice that the fencing will remain up around the grassed area on Rosehill Road - this is because we do not expect to complete the landscaping.

Enjoy your weekend

Regards

Tony

Hi Everyone

I've been on site this morning visiting Mac, to see how we're getting on on Rosehill Road. Mac was very busy, making the necessary arrangements to pull ff site for Christmas. Its looking likely that we will have completed the work and permanently reinstated Rosehill Road by 20 December. We'll then be able to remove our cabins and plant in time for our Christmas shut down. Hopefully we'll have finished all reinstatements to the grassed area as well, but we'll need to confirm this nearer the time.

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hi Everyone

We've had a busy week on site this week. We've now fitted the screen in the CSO and the kiosk is wired and ready for electrical testing. The testing will be next week.

Our drainage team are currently installing new pipes in Rosehill Road close to Dilston Grange and will be for approximately 10 days. You may notice our machines moving around within our working area between the compound and working area. A vibration monitor is in place to ensure that there is minimal disruption to nearby residents.

Over the next couple of weeks we will start reinstating the compound area and hope to complete fencing.

I hope you have a nice weekend.

Hi Everyone

At this risk of repeating ourselves, we are continuing to make good progress on site, although I appreciate that from the outside it may not seem like much is changing! The road closure on Rosehill Road remains in place and will continue until Christmas, by which time we will reinstate and open the road. We still need to complete the drainage installation in Rosehill Road, however work on the CSO is going well.

Hopefully, I'll be able to update with may accurate timescale expections after I visit site next week, so I'll keep you informed

Hi Everyone

I was on site this morning and got caught in a torrential downpour! I was drenched! Once I dried myself off I spoke to the site team about our progress on site. We continue to make good progress with the CSO(Combined Sewer Overflow) and associated drainage. The traffic lights will remain in place for now but will be removed and the road reinstated before Christmas.

I'll remember my umbrella next time I visit!

Hi Everyone

I was on site yesterday to see the team and listen to how we are doing. I'm happy to report that we are making good progress on Rosehill Road and its looking like we'll be finished in the not too distant future - more on that nearer the time.

Among other things, in the last month or so we've built the external walls and weir wall in the new Combined Sewer Overflow(CSO) that we are building and constructed parts of the cover slab. We've also built the electricity kiosk base, installed the kiosk and completed the electric connection and duct work. Additionally, we've spent a lot of time installing drainage around live and uncharted services in the ground.

We'll let you know when we plan to finish on site soon.

Regards

Tony

Hi Everyone

We continue to make progress with our work on Rosehill Road and still expect to be completed as planned. You'll notice the Traffic Management in place, and this seems to be working well. We have been continuing with our construction work within the fenced off area of the compound and still need to install some drainage further down Rosehill Road. As ever we will continue to work hard finish the job as quickly as we can.

I've attached a couple of pictures which I took when I visited Scott and the team on Friday.

Hi Everyone

You may have noticed that we moved the fenced off working area a little further down Rosehill Road last week, where we will continue to work on the drainage in the road. This basically means that residents of Marina View no longer turn right when they come out of the junction. They are now required to turn left. We have also set up three-way traffic lights on the junction of Rosehill Road and Headlam View and they will remain in place for up to 6 weeks. Here are the letters delivered to residents affected: Headlam View Marina View

I've attached a photo from today showing the current road layout.
