GENERAL PROJECT

Sunderland Bridge STW Transfer Works

We are investing £2.5 million to ensure the sewer network continues to serve the community effectively in the future; reducing the risk of flooding and pollution in the Sunderland Bridge and Croxdale area. Our partners, ESH Stantec will be undertaking the work on our behalf beginning on 27 September 2021 and will last until 26 April 2022.

Project updates

Update by Becky Gartland

Good morning,

Some of you may have seen myself and Rachel out on site earlier this week providing residents with an update on the permanent reinstatement works following the completion of the rising main installation.

These works are scheduled to take place from Tuesday 30th May 2023 across 5 days. During this time there will be three-way traffic lights in operation on the A167 at the junction with Hett Lane. The traffic management will be removed daily after 18:00 and reinstated the following morning to minimise the impact to residents.

On Friday 2nd June 2023 the site team will be working under a road closure on Woodview adjacent to the parking bays in order to complete the permanent tarmac reinstatements.

I would also like to take this opportunity to support Croxdale Community Centre in sharing details of a Jumble Sale they will be holding this Saturday 27th May 2023 between 11am-4pm. There will be great deals on baby, toddler, and children's pre-loved toys and clothes and they welcome anyone who wishes to pop along and get themselves a bargain!

If you have any questions or concerns, please comment on this post or email us on nwl.customer@esh.uk.com

We thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we complete this area of work.

Thank you

Becky

Happy Friday Everyone!

Just a quick update on how things have been going on site over the past week.

Most of our work has been contained within the Sewage Treatment Works where we have installed the new pumps within the pumping station/wet well along with testing which was successful.

The site team have continued work on the concrete base surrounding new structures that have been installed.

Further preparations have been carried out involving excavation and stoning up on the new proposed concrete hard standing access slabs. This area of work is ongoing and will continue over the course of the coming weeks.

A quick reminder that there will be 2-way traffic lights in operation again this weekend across the railway bridge whilst we finish off installing the Air Valves within the carriageway of the A167. This will be backfilled and temporarily resurfaced and the traffic lights removed from Sunday afternoon.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Regards

Becky

Good afternoon everyone,

Apologies it's been a couple of weeks since I last provided you with an update.

This weekend there will be manually operated two-way traffic lights in operation across the area of the Railway Bridge on the A167.

In terms of progress, the site team have continued work within the sewerage treatment works.

Pressure testing was completed on the new rising main within the carriageway of the A167 which has passed and all working as it should.

Work carried out under a road closure on Woodview has been completed to tie in the new pipework to an existing chamber on the network which then links to Croxdale Treatment Works.

Mechanical elements have been installed in the way of valves and air valves in chambers within the bus lane on Front Street and this lane closure has now been removed.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Good afternoon all,

I have some good news to share with you all!

This week will be the last week that we will have the two-way traffic lights in operation on the A167 southbound carriageway during the week!

From Monday 28th March 2022 the traffic lights will only be in operation on the carriageway across Saturday and Sunday. We foresee this weekend set up to be in place until Sunday 24 April 2022.

The site team will continue to work in areas adjacent to Rogerson Terrace during Monday to Friday however these works can be carried out without the requirement for any traffic lights on the main carriageway.

In terms of works at the pumping station, specialist sub-contractors have been on site installing pipework and electrical components in preparation for the system to go live.

If you have any queries regarding any areas of our work, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you
