Bede Street

Hello everyone

As Scott said on friday, the junctions off Roker Baths Road into Bede Street and Lonsdale Road are now open. As Scott also said, we will need to close the junctions again to complete the work in that area.

I have been in the area today notifying residents in Bede Street that the junction with Roker Baths Road will be closed from 10 April 2017 for 3 weeks.

As ever, we appreciate your patience and understanding and will continue to do our best to finish as quickly as we can.

Tony

Hi everyone,

A quick update for you,

Ocean Park Attenuation Tank:- As you will have seen my previous Ariel video of the tank, we have continued to backfill over the tank with the stock piled sub soilto re profile the farmers field, we have also formed the fill area for the proposed permanent access track including forming and shaping the batters. Next week we intend to install the new field drainage system over the tank in preparation to carry out the top soil reinstatement to the farmers field.

Boldon Flats:- We have continued with the drainage road crossing on Moor Lane, we have also carried out modification works to the existing water coarse as well as installed a new inlet headwall, the flows have now been turned into the new drainage network, works will continue into next week to complete top soiling with landscaping works to follow.

The temporary two way traffic light have been taken off to assist the Local Authority with their works occurring over the week end, although the traffic lights will be re installed on Monday morning to enable our selves to complete reinstatements.

Morrison's Phase 2 Drainage works:- We have continued up Lowry Road with the excavation and installation of the new drainage network under two way traffic lights. We have also reinstated permanent tarmac surfacing as we have been progressing.

On Monday morning the traffic lights and working area will be extended towards Morrison's and fencing removed behind to allow access into the Local Authority car park.

Have a good weekend.

Steve.

Update by Anthony Birkett

Good afternoon everyone

I was out and about earlier this week trying to speak to residents of Redby Close about the ongoing work in front of their houses. After talking to the council, as part of the work, we're planning to remove the overgrown bushes and ultimately replace them with a selection of shrubs and wild flowers. I've attached the proposed plans, although it is possible that they may change slightly before we start the landscaping.

Hope the weather keeps up for the weekend!

Hello All,

Just to make you aware that we have encountered a delay within the junction between Roker Baths Road, Lonsdale Road, and Bede Street. The delay was caused by a number of uncharted existing services within Roker Baths Road clashing with our new surface water drainage system. We are working towards returning this junction back to normal on 31/3/17, all be it for a short time, as further closures are required to both Bede Street & Lonsdale Road.

Due to this problem the works are now behind our expeted finish date by around 1 week, however we will be doing everything we can to reduce this.

During these works all local business' are open as usual.

Thanks

Scott

Hi everyone,

An update for you as follows, Ocean Park Attenuation tank:- we have last week completed the two large new manhole chambers on the line of the existing culvert up and downstream of the new underground storage tank followed by turning the flows through the tank itself

This week we have also commenced the backfill operations over the tank, with our previously stock piled spoil, works will continue into next week, see attached video footage.

Boldon Flats:- We are currently carrying out the second road crossing on Moor Lane under two traffic signal control lights, to install the new surface water network, when we complete the actual road crossing, this will enable ourselves to construct a new outfall within the existing watercourse, and divert surface water flows which currently are connected to the existing combined network.

We have also undertaken the re connections of the existing field drains within the farmers fields, from Cut Throat Dene heading across to Boldon flats.

Morrison's Phase 2 works:- We are currently installing the new drainage network on Lowry Road under 3 way signal control traffic lights, we have carried out permanent tarmac reinstatement works to the first section of the highway area, from tomorrow traffic signal controls will be reduced to two way lights and works will continue next week with the second phase moving up Lowry Road towards Morrison's supermarket.

Have a good weekend

Steve.

Hi All,

After a few minor delays, works are now once again underway in Roker Park.

We are currently installing 600mm & 525mm diameter concrete rain water pipes at various parts of the park. These pipes will eventually link up with previously installed storm drains at Glenthorpe Ave & Park Parade. In turn all the rain water will discharge at the Sensory Garden creating a flowing swale.

Photos attached to this update show fencing off work areas and closed gates to the park. These areas are closed due to ongoing works, making it unsafe for public access.

Also I've include an artist impression of how the completed works may look.

Many Thanks

Scott

MOOR LANE RESIDENTS TAKE CARE!

Hi Everyone,

Residents of Moor Lane may have noticed a small water leak in the road. Please take care driving in this area as standing water can be dangerous. This is not related to the sewerage work we are carrying out in the area and Northumbrian Water are currently dealing with it.

Take care
