Hello Everyone

Good news for the residents of Benedict Road, we are now finished in your street and have completed permanent reinstatements. I'm sure you'll be pleased to have your road back!

We now move on and in to St Andrews Terrace to complete the upgrade in that road. I've been out and notified those affected. We expect this stage to last up to 4 weeks but  obviously will do all we can to finish as quickly as possible.

Have a great weekend

Tony

Good morning everyone

As you will know, we're currently working in Roker Park and I was there last week having a look around. As ever we try to cause minimal disruption to all local residents, and that includes our fury and feathered friends! As you can see many of the park regulars seem unconcerned by our work, but rest assured we'll work as hard as we can to finish as quickly as we can.

I've attached a couple of pictures from my visit to the park

Update by Anthony Birkett

Hello everyone

This week, I have been out in the area of Lonsdale Road and Bede Street notifying those affected by our proposed work at the beginning of next week. Work will start on Tuesday 28th February 2017 when we will work in Roker Baths Road. To enable us to work safely in Roker Baths Road, we will be closing the junctions of Bede Street and Lonsdale Road and these junctions will remain closed for up to 3 weeks. I appreciate that there will be inevitable disruption in the area but be assured that we will keep it to a minimum and will work as quickly as we can to complete the work and move on. We will then continue to move further up Roker Baths Road as planned.

Hope you have a nice weekend

Tony

Update by Steve Boyd (Project Manager)

Hi all,

A further update of this weeks work:- Ocean Park, we have continued with the internal works to the Attenuation Tank, we have also installed some of the new 1500 diameter pipe work to and from the Tank.

Next week are planning to excavate and construct the two new manholes up and down stream of the tank on the line of the existing culvert with the aid of over pumping operations in preparation to turn the flows through the tank itself.

Following the above in about two weeks time, we plan to commence the sub soil reinstatement works over the tank.

Boldon Flats:- We have now completed the new drainage road crossing on Moor Lane across to West Meadows and turned the surface water flows into the new drainage network, which now discharges at Cut Throat Dene just off Sunderland Road.

Morrison's Phase 2 :- We have completed the section of drainage works on the grassed area at the bottom of Lowry Road, although as we were about to commence the actual road crossing onto the highway itself we encountered a water main which clashes with our drainage levels, a new design is in the process to overcome this problem, mean while we have continued up Lowery Road under 3 way traffic signal control, works will continue next week.

The weather is pretty awful at the moment making thing a little more difficult on the ground generally, hope it improves for next week.

Have a good weekend, and batten down the hatches.

Steve.

BENEDICT ROAD

Hi Everyone

We managed to inform those directly affected by letter, but just a quick reminder that the fencing will move further up Benedict Road this afternoon. If you haven't already, could you please ensure that your car isn't parked in the area between the current fencing and the junction with Bede Street. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. It should take no more than 3 weeks but we will endeavour to work as quickly as we can to get finished and allow parking in the area again.

Thanks

Tony

Update by Steve Boyd (Project Manager)

Hi all,

Just a quick update for this weeks progress

We have continued on with construction of the Attenuation Tank at Ocean Park and are currently carrying out some backfill operations up to the roof height around the perimeter.

Boldon Flats we have continued on with the drainage network road crossing, with the aid of three way traffic controlled signals on Moor lane across to West Meadows, works will continue into next week.

Lowry Road, works have continued in the grassed area with the installation of the new drainage network from Cut Throat Dene, works in this area has been hampered by the existing ground conditions where we have encountered old structures, rubble and concrete backfill.

We have temporarily removed the three way traffic lights off the junction, due the above delays, although they shall need reinstating on the morning of Wednesday 8th  February 17, where we anticipate to be re commencing the highway section of works, then working up lowery road itself.

Apologies for no photos this week as pretty much status quo as last week.

Have a good weekend

Hi all,

A quick update on the project for you, Ocean Park Attenuation Tank:- We have completed the third concrete roof screed pour with aid of a mobile concrete pump and are continuing on with the internal concrete benching operations of which there is quite a large quantity.

We have been able to carry out some perimeter backfill operations around the tank up to the roof height, and we are now placing the precast concrete turrets to bring up to our new proposed ground levels, works will continue into next week.

Boldon Flats new drainage network:- Junction of Moor Lane/West Meadows Road, We have completed the first half of the road crossing with the aid of three way traffic control signals also installed permanent tarmac reinstatement, the traffic management has now been switched over to enable the second half of the crossing to be installed, works will continue into next week.

Morrison's new drainage network Phase 2:- We have this week commenced at Cut throat Dene within the grassed area forming a new outlet and progressing towards Lowry Road.

Next week we are to commence the actual road crossing preparation works, where we shall be installing three way traffic signal controls at the junction, to the bottom end of Lowery Road.

Please be advised in advance that there will be congestion at this location, although we shall endeavor to carry out the works as quickly and as safely as possible.

We thank you for your patience, as we carry out these essential works.

Have a good weekend
