Wooler Water Treatment Works

As part of our ongoing investment programme and to ensure the highest level of customer service, we are constructing a new Water Treatment Works (WTW) at Wooler, Northumberland. The new WTW is located in the town of Wooler, at a site opposite Berwick Road Industrial Estate . The main construction phase commenced in summer 2020 and was substantially completed in autumn 2021. Final commissioning to bring the new WTW into service is currently scheduled to run through until autumn 2022.

Good Afternoon, Yes, well it has been a while since our last update and it probably looks as though all the work is done....not quite! I would just like to confirm there has and will continue to be a lot of technical work going on to ensure the work is totally complete before we will be fully operational. This work will continue until the Autumn when all being well the commissioning will be concluded. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding

Good Morning, Just to keep you all in the loop as to where we are:- Well it does look as though nothing is happening on site now, however there are some works going on within the grounds, snagging etc as well as behind the scenes to bring the project to a close. The team are currently doing some remedial works which will take approximately 6wks then there will be some commissioning to complete so work is anticipated to be complete in the Spring. Hello, Hope you are all enjoying this great weather. Well, we are near the completion stage of the build phase and the commissioning is ongoing. The site cabins have now been removed and we are getting ready for the new roads around the building to be installed. The finish line is in sight. Thanks again for your understanding during the work.

Good Morning, Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday and are enjoying this lovely weather. Well, things are starting to progress really well, Gary has sent me some photos for you check out, have a look. You may have noticed there seems to be less activity within the compound lately this is because now the work is starting to take place within the building, all the testing and techincal tasks are starting which means the outdoor work is just the smartening up of the area. The cabins will be moving soon and we will be relocating them to another site in Northumberland. Here are the photos:-

Good Morning All, There has been a lot of activity with the buildings these last few weeks, here is a brief update on what's been going on:- Treatment building: - The subcontractors have continued installing the cabling within the building and MCC room. They have installed the point/vent pipework to the outside of the building to the relevant kiosk positions. The power on the caustic kiosk has gone ahead as well as the piping up of the break tank and booster pump setup.The pipework between the vessels have also been installed. All this means is we can start to dry commission and fill vessel 1 for flush testing ..............so watch this space! Pump station – The first test passed! Again lots of prep cables installed to the pumps, turned pumps to check spinning orientation is working correct, went well which again means we are ready for water test. Contact tank – the east contact and west balance tank passed drop test. Filled opposing sides. Waste Water Settlement Tank – More installation of valves on the inlet pipes including all the cabling. Good Morning, Here is our update:- Treatment building: - We along with the subbies have continued installing the cabling and pipework within the building and MCC room. Pump station:- Cable trays have been installed into the wet well and the stand for the pump setup Contact tank - Installed tray work to the north for contact tank sensors and coverlids. The exterior work is ongoing and starting to take shape have a look at the photos.
