We are investing up to £9 million to improve Butterknowle, Cockfield and Ramshaw sewage treatment works. Starting in December 2018 and likely to continue to December 2019. These works will improve the quality of the water in the River Gaunless and will not involve any disruption to the wastewater service in the area. Project updates

Update by Martin Curtis-Haigh

Good progress made this week at Cockfield sewage works. You can see in the photo the tertiary treatment slab taking shape. This is due for delivery early April

At Ramshaw sewage works we are close to completing installation of the pumping station. Please expect some traffic movement next week when we move the plant to Butterknowle.

Butterknowle water main installation has been an interesting start. We are directional drilling as much as possible to avoid excavation works. Ground is proving to be a challenge but we are making progress.

Enjoy your weekend. Hope the snow keeps away.

Many Thanks

Martin.

Good afternoon. Just to let you know we are commencing works at Butterknowle on Monday 14th January to install a new water main into the Sewage works.

This will involve some excavation work in the highway and along the track leading to the works.

We will have traffic lights in place during this period.

Let us know if you come across any issues during this time and we will do our best to help. The work will take no longer than 2 weeks.

Many Thanks

Martin.

Good Morining.

We are installing a gate today leading up to the entrance of Ramshaw STW. This will be in place during the constrcution phase of the project to avoid any horses getting loose and walking into our work area.

Regarding the main works we are aiming to start at Cockfield middle of November, Ramshaw end of Novemeber / early December and Butterknowle early January. We will keep you posted in the mean time
