Project updates

Update by Dean Thompson

Hello everyone. You may recall us sending you a letter in November 2016 to make you aware of essential work to improve the performance and flexibility of our sewer network and sewage treatment works in the Butterknowle, Cockfield and Ramshaw areas of Bishop Auckland.

We undertook some investigative work in your area and held three customer information drop-in sessions to understand your views about this essential work and how we could minimise any disruption you and your community might experience.

As a result of our investigations and the feedback that you provided, we have decided not to transfer flows from Ramshaw and Butterknowle sewage treatment works to Cockfield sewage treatment works. Instead, we will upgrade each of the works individually.

We are yet to confirm when the upgrade works will commence, however once we do we will contact you once again to ensure you’re kept informed and made aware of any possible disruption

Update by Brian Hall

Hello everyone I am the customer manager for Interserve Construction who are carrying out the work on this project on behalf of Northumbria Water. I have already met some of the local residents while visiting the sites and attending the consultation events. It was great to hear local peoples views and the information they were able to supply was invaluable in forming our plans for the project. I will try to make myself available at the sites during work but please if you have any questions or opinions feel free to contact me on the details above.
